At work, when we have a death, which is frequently as that's what the patients are there to do, after they are dead we give them a final wash. Once you die, you evacuate your bowel and bladder, and depending on how you die, various fluids come out of various orifaces. Anyway, in the final wash, we put a bit of lavender oil, especially if the patient has made a rather spectacular exit.

Today my house is a bit stinky. I think that the garbage disposal hasn't been run for a few days or maybe garbage needs taking out, but anyway, I was downstairs and didn't feel like dealing with the kitchen as it is not my chore. So I grabbed the Air Wick on my desk, and sprayed it.

It was lavender scent.

I literally almost gagged. I used to like lavender. But now, to me, lavender now smells like death. It's okay when I'm at work becuase hey, that's what I do. But to have the Smell of Death (TM) be at my school desk? It seemed so weird. And it really kinda freaked me out.

So I went upstairs, got some non-lavender candles to light, and put on some vanilla hand lotion to sort of mask the smell. The Smell of Death dissipated quickly, and I felt better.

So yeah. No lavender gift sets for me.

I was laughing out loud when read about you saying what happens when you die. My dad is a police officer, and has been ever since I was little. He used to tell me really weird stories about dead people and stuff coming out of various places. You gave me a memory. A sick one, but a fond one. :)
