Nov. 27th, 2003 08:39 pmToday was... interesting.
We went solo today with out first clients. I had G, she is very cooperative, and such a sweetheart, but she's very hard to do because of her size. I did what I could with her, and then I had to get help. I can log roll her by myself, but I can't take a hand away to do anything, because she's so big; she'll roll back. Jamie came in,helped me get her pericare done, and to roll her into a gown. Then, Tracy came in to see what was going on, and Sally was there too, so Sally and I worked together while Tracy and Jamie corrected us. The situation got a little frustrating for me, but I was okay. The sling went on nicely the first time (When we practised yesterday, the girls couldn't get it on straight and properly alligned. I didn't really have a chance to try the lift yesterday, today was my first time using it, even though I did bring it up with Tracy that I hadn't used it before. *shrugs* Perhaps I'm trusted more than I think I am to know procedures. Cuz I do know them.) Got G into her chair, then did her hair, put a blanket over her (she was to stay in her gown as today was bath day) and left her in her room watching TV.
Tomorrow I'll have both G and K to get up in the morning, Sally will have M and C. C and K are in the same room, and so we will do G and M to the point where we can (They're both heavier) and then K and C are easy to do in the morning, especially K. She can grab her siderails, and turn for you, and she uses a bedpan in the am so that worry isn't there for me (I'm scared of spilling it, acutally)
I need to work on my confidance. I did SO good in the course, and I walked up to the hospital confidant, and when I got in there, I was like "Oh, shit, I can't do this... *panics*" I told Jamie, and I think she's worried. I have to be confidant tomorrow. I really do. I know what to do, I know how to do it. I need to do it quickly, and efficiently in as little footsteps as possible.
I also need to do my charting.
