Oct. 1st, 2003 06:59 pm'Tis october! one week until my birthday! (8th) (I take all major credit cards :P)
I found out something today. When my body says "You, sleep, now", I haven't much of a choice :) An unexpected nap occured after my shift in emerg becasue me and drewie were up late watching vampire movies.
Emerg was boring today. Not very busy, which is good. The good triage nurse was on, she lets me take patients to the rooms and give them their gowns and stuff. Some of the others do it themselves, which leaves me wth nothing to do...
Went down to Radiation today because a porter had a brainfart, and brought the entire chart, including the emerg sheet, and the clipboard down with the patient and well, it's kinda scary down there. Maybe because of my fear of cancer, but I saw people's clothes in the change rooms that they use to put on gowns before they go for their treatment. I know I'll see worse then that in my career as a PCA, and that something as simple as that shouldn't have shaken me the way it did, but I didn't expect to have to go down there today, and it kind of freaked me out a little bit.
After that, I dropped the chart off to the nurse, and went and walked around outside a little bit. It was VERY nice today, much warmer then it was when I left this morning. I sat on a bench, and tried to relax, but it didn't work. So, I went back to emerg and told the lady i was going to go for lunch, and I did, and read a newspaperish thing that is printed weekly from the CHR. Found out I'm elgiable for a free flu shot, and so I will get that in 2 weeks after I volunteer.
They called from my store today while I was in emerg, and I didn't call back. I am NOT going to work for them anymore, my notice was final.
Yesterday, when I was working, a lady came in to buy a gift for a girl. She mentioned something about "Ugh, it's only Tuesday, it's going to be such a long week" and I said "This is a good week for me, next week will be nuts" she said "Why's that" and I told her that I'm training to be a PCA and that I have exam and labs next week. She opened her wallet, and gave me her business card, and it turns out she runs a home care program/facility thing, and she said to me "Call me after you graduate" Is that cool or what?
