- Health care. Jessica S, from the states, dying in her hospital bed becasue they gave her the wrong organs. How FUCKING STUPID do you have to be to do that? One would imagine compatability would be tested many times before the organs were even sent to the hospital she was going to be undergoing surgery at. Then, after they do that, they try to undo it. I mean, it was worth a shot, I guess, to say they tried, but someone who had a better chance of surviving could have had the second set she recieved. I'm not saying they were wrong to try, but still. Now what do we have? Two wasted sets of organs, and a girl, who somone on FF read was "tenatively braindead". Two wasted organ sets, and a dead 17 year old girl. I can imagine adding a multi-milliion dollar lawsuit to that. However, it still won't bring her back. That poor family.
Now, if people would let cloning happen, stem cell research, etc., this whole fiasco could have been avoided. It very possibly could have been "Jessica, your heart and lung are messed up. We'll clone you a new one. Do your best to stay strong, and when they're done growing, we'll call you in... oh, three months, and we'll do the procedure then." But no! People turn off their minds to the prospect of cloning anything, and things like cloning embryonic stem cells, etc. are banned because of pro life groups (If you're pro-life, I still love you, I just don't agree with you).
It's depressing. It sucks that we're really close on this type of technology, and government regultions stop it dead in it's tracks.
meh.
