Had my first shift in the ER at the Foothills General Hospital. Wow. It was great! I had worked 7 hours before it, and I was brutally tired, but it was really cool. I got to see a trauma come in, and it is completely different then what happens on TV. People are paged to the trauma area before the patient arrives, and so all the doctors and nurses and everyone are there, gowned and ready when the patient gets there. it also looks alot calmer. I couldn't stay to watch alot of it because there were 2 other with me, plus the guy who was leading our group.

My next shift is on Tuesday from 9-1, and then I start my regular shifts each wednesday from 11-3. It's gonna be great :D

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

John McCrae
